2023 was a year with little rain, continuous hot days, and a lingering severe heat in late summer. The grapes were concentrated, resulting in a vintage with high sugar content and ripeness. This wine offers a concentrated, rich aroma of tropical fruits and honey, a meltingly smooth palate with precise acidity and a rich texture, and elegant characteristics derived from barrel aging.

100% Chardonnay from Yukio Kimura's vineyard in Hirusawa, Takahata-cho, Yamagata Prefecture.
Fermentation: Skin contact, fermentation in French oak barrels, 100% MLF
Barrel aging period: 9 months in barrels
New oak ratio: 30%

【Name and Label Design】
Funiculi, Funicula is originally part of the lyrics of the theme song for Italy's funicular railway, and in Japan, it is known as the children's song "Oni no Pantsu" (Ogre's Pants). Since the Kimura vineyard is located on a steep slope that would almost require a funicular, the label depicts a red ogre riding a funicular.
