Although it is often overlooked due to the large number of examples of Chardonnay cultivation nationwide, Yamagata Prefecture is a major producer of Chardonnay. In fact, this variety has been cultivated in Kaminoyama for a very long time.
Currently (April 2021), we are managing a total of 0.9 hectares of fields using the short shoot cultivation method. We produce stable harvests from two fields: Uenoyama Field (0.5 hectares), which is mainly made of gravelly red soil, and Ikui Field (0.4 hectares), which is made of red soil mixed with clay.
Chardonnay has no distinctive flavor and is neutral, so it is said to be a mirror that reflects the climate. We have created a wine that allows you to experience the climate of Kaminoyama in the easiest way possible.
