There was little rain in autumn and no typhoons in Yamagata for the 20VT. All varieties were harvested at high ripeness, and Cabernet in particular was the largest in both quantity and quality. This was the first VT to be brewed in each of the four Cabernet vineyards at the time. Among the raw liquors with different characters, the Cabernet from the Ikii vineyard was the one that had an extremely rich and prominent flavor of cassis. The structure was refined after about a year of barrel aging, and even when we tried to decide on the blend, we felt that it had a will to reject raw liquors from other vineyards. When we blended it with Franc raw liquor from the same Ikii vineyard, we understood that it added a light flower and freshness. The true intention was [I want to express the VT only from Ikii vineyard]. Even after two years of aging from bottling, it still has a youthful momentum. The flavors derived from the fruits of cassis liqueur and plum are dominant, with a refreshing feeling of mint and a refreshing cedar. The smooth and fine tannins are friendly and do not irritate the mouth. As the days go by after uncorking, the aroma opens up, and you can also sense the nuances of vanilla and roasty mocha from the barrels. This is the essence of the exquisite climate. This wine is a private reserve that is worthy of embodying the Cabernet from Kaminoyama, which can only be achieved in rare years.
